My Global Hustle

A Paler Shade of White

This was a very interesting article… I read it yesterday while waiting for 2 meet a friend for drinks @ Mr. The Barbershop (my new favorite hang out spot in the financial district of San Fran). The article really made me wonder about a lot of the artists that we tend 2 put on a pedestal. Moreover, question how does race factor into the success  of certain artists over others? (i.e. Leela James vs Amy Winehouse) I guess it is just a sign of the times….. Various genres of music have been borrowing from one another in an attempt 2 create something fresh for generations. -!YG

why don’t you read the follow-up article, written after Arcade Fire actually assembled bits of their songs which they “blatantly stole from black people.”

i kind of thought stealing music was not supposed to be a good things. Well, I guess clapping on 2 and 4 is considered Avant-Garde now, 100 years after it’s been popularized.
