BLACK FATHERS ARE NO LONGER NEEDED?
I received a link to a very disturbing blog post this morning. After chatting with a gal pal about what we read, it seems that this “BLACK FATHERS ARE NO LONGER NEEDED” sentiment is common amongst young black women. I have my feeling on the situation, but there is not enough time in the day to blog about. There are many variables that I automatically take into consideration when I reflect on this issue from the cultural to the historical. This topic definitely deserves a roundtable discussion. Lets discuss… I’m curious to see what folks think. -!YG
US will appoint Afghan ‘Prime Minister’
This doesn’t sound like change or democracy to me. For the last 30-40 years US (European) Policy has slowly driven this country into a deep abyss. This act is a perfect example as to why our global neighbors aren’t big fans of American Foreign policy. The puppet no longer wants to play by the rules and now is looked @ as a threat. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. -!YG
Beach Reading: The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao
I’m looking forward to cracking open this book when I touch the beach on Weds. Oscar Wao is a Pulitzer Prize winning book written by Junot Diaz and has received great reviews (per Jackie 
). I wonder if this book will live up to all the hype. I will let you guys know my thoughts in a few days.-!YG

It seems that Prince will be dropping a new album very soon. Talk about a man who has mastered the art of timing. There isn’t much music to be excited about these days and a Prince album is just what the doctor ordered.

This was a dope interview.. I can’t wait to see the film next week. Valentino is a true fashion icon who did it his way. A lot of the new jacks could learn a lot from watching his movements. Check out this interview and become inspired. -!YG

I’m looking forward to watching this show. I rarely watch the “idiot box”, but this is a good excuse. I don’t have Tivo, so I will be in the crib on Monday night @ 9pm watching this show on the Travel Channel.

Costa Rica (CR) has become the go-to destination for people looking for a cheap and cheerful vacation. It seems CR is also a great place for folks interested in getting “refreshed” a.k.a plastic surgery. Some say the medical care in this sector rivals Brazil in terms of quality.
I’m curious to see how many people will now flock to CR for sun, beach and a tummy tuck…. lol! Special shout out to my OG, Jose Maria Figueres Olsen. I had to rep your country. -!YG
