Keith Ferrazzi – “Who’s Got Your Back” / “Never Eat Alone”

One of the few days I did not carry my camera with me, I went to see my favorite author Keith Ferrazzi speak about his new book “Who’s Got You Back”. Keith’s first book “Never Eat Alone” is a classic. These books SHOULD be in your personal library. Many people ask me…. ” YG, how can I build a robust network like you?”  I tell them the first step is reading Keith’s books.

“Never Eat Alone” gave me the tools to take my connection with individuals to another level. I’ve had the benefit of knowing a lot of the “right” people @ the “right” time in my life. I’ve learned how to cultivate lasting and meaningful relationships as a result of reading “Never Eat Alone”. The key point that I took from reading this book is not “what can someone do for me, but what can I do for someone else”. As I’ve said your success is my success… 😉

Now Keith is back with the next step in the process of building a sound network…… Those next steps are in his new book “Who’s Got Your Back”. I’m half way thru this book and so far Keith is spot on. He has taken the tools he gave us in book 1 and expounded upon them in book 2. The premise of “Who’s Got Your Back” focuses on  all the relationships that you have established over time….. How are you going to use them? It is not enough to say that you know someone, but the key value is building a deeper and more meaningful relationship. One thing my OG’s taught me is…  “if you can’t pick up the phone and call someone (or have them you call you back), then that is not a real relationship:.

It is not enough to say you “know someone”, but you have to take the time to develop a true relationship. Why? Because it is via these true relationships that people become vested in your well being. Once people are vested in your well being, they will begin to hold you accountable for your actions. You said you wanted to start your own business (for example)….  This is where having the right people vested in you will begin add value in your life because those folks will “check  and challenge you” to see if you are staying true to your word or just”talking sh*t”. Both books are definitely worth adding to your library, you will constantly refer to them… 😉 -!YG
