Earlier today I ran into gubernatorial candidate Jimmy McMillan in L.E.S. It is crazy how popular this brother has become in the span of 1 week. I’m curious to see how many votes he gets in November. SNL even did a skit on him on Saturday night. -!YG
I stumbled upon this book after reading Larry Gagosian’s piece in FT. I was curious to pick up this book because Kahnweiler was Pablo Picasso’s art dealer and I’ve always be fascinated with the folks who make things happen behind the scenes. Hopefully it will be an interesting read. Check out the summary below. -!YG
Summary
Kahnweiler (1884-1979), a German-Jewish banker, established a Paris gallery in 1907 and championed artists including Picasso, Braque, Leger and Gris. According to PW , “Assouline’s meticulously researched and fluidly translated biography successfully analyzes a complex figure who played a pivotal role in the marketing and eventual triumph of modern art.”

Last night I attended the opening for the Youtube Play exhbition @ the Guggenheim. Youtube Play is a partnership btn the Guggenheim & Youtube to create a Biennial for creative videos. Thousands of people submitted videos & it was cut down to the last 25 finalist whose videos are currently on display @ the Guggenheim. Their videos will be on view this weekend until Sunday & also can be seen online @ www.youtube.com/play.

Last night I had a chance to attend an event catered by Marcus Samuelsson’s new restaurant – Red Rooster. Most of the food being served was very yummy. Red Rooster is scheduled to open to the public on November 15th. -!YG
