Earlier this evening I attended a book signing @ the Guggeneheim museum for Maurizio Cattelan. He was signing copies of his exhibition catalog for patrons, fans and tourist. After about an hour of waiting in line, I finally got my book signed. Definitely worth the wait for. – YG (@youngglobal)

Today I spent some time @ the Frick Collection with my friend Yumi who was in town from Geneva. The Frick currently has a really nice selection of drawings by Pablo Picasso on exhibition. I was impressed by one image in particular that was exhibited in the show, a study from 'Life' (Male Model) by Picasso.
Having seen a fair amount of art from this period, I found it really interesting to see the subject of this drawing who is clearly of African descent. To be honest, it was actually refreshing to see when you take into consideration how influential Africa was to Picasso, Matisse and many other artists. Now I'm going to do a little digging to find out more about this mystery figure.
For those who are interested in seeing the drawings live and direct, the Frick on Sundays from 11am-1pm is pay what you wish. Check it out. – YG
Description of the Piece
From casts of sculpture, Picasso progressed to the live model. Here Picasso captures the specific qualities of his subject. The human figure would remain Picasso's primary subject throughout his life.
Ice Cube recently narrated a short film on The Eames House. As part of a celebration of the postwar Los Angeles art scene and Pacific Standard Time, the film gives props to Charles and Alexandra “Ray” Eames who were American designers who helped redefine modern architecture and design. Check out the film. – YG (@youngglobal)
