YG Inspiration – Bill Cosby

Tumblr_leekaorqqq1qasnsvo1_500

People often ask who are some individuals who’ve  inspired me….. Bill Cosby definitely is a cat who has inspired me from his fashion to his business acumen. Folks sleep on how much of a contribution this man has made to pop culture beyond “The Cosby Show”. Bill is a true original. -YG (@youngglobal)

KANYE WEST @ THE MOMA GARDEN PARTY

231143_10150184193668258_51487

Last night @ the MoMA's annual garden party, Mr. West was in the building! He played to a crowd of almost 1,000 socialites, art lovers and hip hop fans in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden. This was my 2nd time attending the Garden Party (saw Estelle in '09) and I had a blast mingling with the folks. It was great to see all my friends from various circles all in the same place under the banner of "hip hop" music.

'Ye ran through a 45 min. set of classics and album cuts capping the evening off with special guest Jay-Z! They performed "H.A.M." (which I still think is wack) & Hova did "Empire State". Overall, it was a great evening and good warm up for the summer months. -YG (@youngglobal)

Jamiroquai – Two Completely Different Things

Here is another cut from the new Jamiroquai album Rock Dust Light Star. I’ve been listening to the album all morning & I’m really impressed. Most folks don’t know I’ve been a fan of  Jamiroquai since ‘96, so it always makes me happy when they drop a new album. -!YG

A Free Man of Color Starring Jeffrey Wright x Mos

I’m still digesting the play, but I walked out of the theater with a big smile on my face. Usually when that happens that tells me something was good. You can’t fight the emotions you feel when your spirit has been moved.

Jeffrey did a masterful job in the role of the libertine Jacques Cornet. Mos brought in some nice balance and @ times satirical relief in his role as Murmur. A Free Man of Color is a heady satire, which intelligently parallels history with the contemporary. If you are going for just pure entertainment, this play is not for you. Watching A Free Man of Color will definitely require some thinking or you will be lost. The play moves with such velocity that if you are not paying attention,  you will miss the whole point.

I have more thoughts, but I’m going to digest for a few days & come back with more feedback. I got a couple of flicks, but the quality is pretty shi&&y…. lol! -!YG

Xbox Kinect Launch in Time Square

Kinect for Xbox 360 celebrated their launch last night @ Time Square. The controller-free gaming & entertainment system is a good look per my friends who’ve had the luxury of using it. In conjunction with the celebration Xbox & Hamonix (makers of Rock Band) hosted a dance party in the middle of time square with Ne-Yo & Lady Sovereign. Check out the flicks & video from last night. -!YG
